It was a very good day for New zealand as they were able to take the lead from Sri Lanka very comfortably while having 8 wickets still in hand.
Having being able to score 282 for the first inning with 3 half centuries in the inning Lankans just gifted the advantage to New Zealand by giving easy and free runs.
Day was not all about not getting wickets as conditions seems very good for batting after 1 st session of yesterday but the runs leaked by Lankans without making New Zealand fight for each run.
New Zealand were able to get the runs with ease as they almost scored 4 runs per over.
New Zealand ended up the day at 311 for 2 wickets and got a lead of 29 runs.
150 to 200 lead here will give New Zealand good chance of winning the match.
In Sri Lanka's point of view they should try to stop every free runs and let New Zealand fight for each run to put some pressure on them so Sri Lanka can minimize the lead.
Match Summary at the end of 2 nd day is as follows:
SRI LANKA(1st inning) 282-10(90 overs)
Angelo Mathews 83 Tim Southee 6-68
NEW ZEALAND (1st inning) 311-2(84 overs)
