Currently at ICC test rankings sri lanka is at 6 th position with 97 points and this series will be a very good chance for the team to improve the rankings to get to NO5 winning it 3-0.
In all the success of the test series sri lanka had the main weapon Rangana Herath with them but after first test he is leaving test cricket so sri lanka should try to get the maximum out of him in the first test.As per the squad we thought of suggesting the best possible team for 1 st test based on conditions of the ground and previous performances .Our team is as follows:

All though Dhananjaya Desilva is a better middle order batsman we have opted him at top basically because sri lanka got a strong middle order and there is no previously played openers Gunathilaka and kusal janith in squad and we can't have much trust on Kaushal Silva in international level performances although he is in squad
In bowling wise we have gone with 2 pacers and 2 spinners .Based on conditions if pitch is too spin friendly we would choose Akila Dhananjaya in the place of Rajitha
