Dhananjaya De Silva to play at No 3 in worldcup
Since the retirement of great sanga, mahela and dilshan Sri lankans have been looking for the perfect middle order batting combination and failed to do so until even asia cups having success in matches here and there.3-6 positions are the backbone of any team and teams tend to use their best batsman at no3 position.Players like Root, steve smith ,williamson has done a great job at no3 and it has been a massive reason for the success of their teams. But does sri lanka has that much needed no 3 in there team.Obviously not in the current order of batting and with continous failure of openers and no3 sri lanka always tend to give up the match in first 2to 3 overs creating a massive pressure to rest of the batting order.Having less than 10 months to the worldcup sri lanka should surely have a fixed no3 batsmen if they atleast want to have a hope of winning the worldcup.Normally the player with the best form and technique tend to play at no 3 and in my current team he is obviously dhananjaya de silva the only ray of light in sri lankan dark batting performances. He has been put into pressure at various positions and unlike others he did his best at every position he has got.Currently at sri lankan team he performs good at no 6 but match is over by far when he comes to bat and his efforts end up in dissapoinment even killing his inspiration. We got enough good suggestion including the ex captain and good finishers for no 6 position and surely we will talk about No 6 position in next post as we talked about no 7 and 8 in previous post.
